Part of the Miami Book Fair’s charm is the intimate “Evenings With” events, where hot-ticket authors reveal the inspirations behind their latest page turners and reveal their creative processes. This year’s lineup offers a unique mix of authors, from “BookTok” sensation Mercedes Ron and novelist Daniel Silva, who’s known for his thriller and spy novels, to the 25th U.S. Poet Laureate, Arthur Sze, who’s written numerous books of poetry.
Expect to be captivated by the words of Israeli author and photojournalist Lihi Lapid, who is the mother of an autistic child and champions those with disabilities; media guru Barry Diller, who created and launched the Fox Broadcasting Company; environmentalist and best-selling author Bill McKibben; and local talent like Cuban poet and playwright Legna Rodriguez Iglesias.
Ever wondered what it’s like to perform brain surgery? You’ll even hear from neurosurgeon Theodore H. Schwartz, who wrote “Gray Matters: A Biography of Brain Surgery.” And you’ll see the stirring images of acclaimed photographer Sally Mann, who captures life in black and white in the American South.
